Dr. Yacht initially served as a general practitioner prior to
joining Florida's public health system in 1987.  He retired
after 20 years of service as Director of the Pasco County
Health Department.

During his tenure his accomplishments included bringing
dental services to needy populations, increasing primary
care services to the people of Pasco County, improving
health department facilities, and improving relationships with
community leaders and human service providers.

Dr. Yacht advocates a National System of Health care that
would provide universal medical coverage. He writes
frequent editorials on health and human service issues,
serves as Editor in Chief of the Florida Medical Association
quarterly magazine, serves as Vice President of the West
Pasco Habitat For Humanity board, and volunteers at the
CARE's Senior Clinic.  

Dr. Yacht is a long standing member of the Good Samaritan
Free Clinic board, and enjoys writing, photography and
sailing.  He has three grown children and lives with his wife
of 27 years in Hudson, Florida
